Guitarist Warren Haynes will host the 28th annual Christmas Jam tonight at U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, North Carolina. The concert once again benefits Asheville Area Habitat For Humanity.

This summer marks the return of the much-anticipated Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration featuring Warren Haynes. The highly acclaimed fourth tour has just added two new dates in New York City and New Jersey to the previously announced seven performances. Curated by the Garcia family, the celebration will feature Garcia and lyricist Robert Hunter’s timeless original compositions and interpretations of songs that became standards at Jerry Garcia Band and Grateful Dead concerts.

The rain started early Saturday morning, just after the Umphrey‘s McGee set closed up shop. That dope encore was legit. I’m searching for phrases to describe Phases of the Moon Music & Art Festival.  It began as a dark side of the moon, but that was just a phase.  As an audience, our hackles were already up, howling at the moon before the weekend ever arrived.  Through no fault of the Phases organizers, RatDog had to cancel their appearance.  Bobby Weir’s lightening is lazy.

The Second Lockn' Festival that went down last weekend in Arrington, Virginia, in the surrounding foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, was a cut above the rest for plenty of reasons. Aside from the high quality production put on by promoters, creating a lavish experience for even the most seasoned of festivalgoers, it really was the caliber of musicians on the bill that drew tens of thousands from all over the country.
