Colorado dates include: Nov. 18th at The Bluebird in Denver with Shel, November 19th in Boulder with The Steep Canyon Rangers at the Boulder Theatre and Dec. 10th at The Pac3 in Carbondale. End of the year Stampede festivities kick off at the historic Stage Stop Inn in Rollinsville on Dec. 29th, The Star Gazers Theater in Colorado Springs on Dec 30th, and then onto Portland, Oregon for a spectacular New Years Eve celebration hosted by fellow Coloradoans Leftover Salmon. The indie-acoustic quintet from Nederland Colorado, has toured throughout 2011 in support of their sophomore album, ‘Break in the Clouds’ released on Ruff Shod Records (an independent label created by Chad Stokes of State Radio). This past year has garnered considerable praise for the group’s songwriting, instrumentation and multi-genre musical style, receiving widespread radio airplay, including being used in segments of NPR's "All Things Considered."This summer the quintet performed at prominent music festivals like Desert Rocks, Northwest String Summit, High Sierra and the Oregon Country Fair; and fall dates included trips to the East Coast and South. The Chicago Sun Times says, “The melodic, finely tuned songs are a tribute to the collaborative songwriting talents of each band member,” who are: Bonnie Paine (vocals, washboard, djembe and musical saw), Sage Cook (electric banjo/guitar, acoustic guitar, mandolin, viola and vocals), Dango Rose (double-bass, mandolin, banjo and vocals), Daniel Rodriguez (acoustic guitar, electric banjo/guitar and vocals) and Bridget Law (fiddle and vocals). The band plays a variety of folk instruments, from washboard to fiddle, electric banjo, djembe to musical saw, but the band goes further with originals that snap and sparkle with traditional balladry, Scottish/Celtic fiddle, psychedelic old-time, indie rock, rustic Americana, world beat, traditional jazz and an occasionally hip-hop beat.“Elephant Revival is not five musicians supporting one songwriter, but friends in full collaboration for the betterment of music,” says The Huffington Post, “both their own and what folk means to modern America, which is inevitably embedded in the lyrical content.” BREAK IN THE CLOUDS was recorded in Lyons, Colo., and was produced by David Tiller (Taarka) in his studio, The Distillery.“We have elements from many different styles of music. The cohesive quality comes from the honor and respect we hold for each other and our fans.” Rose told Relix magazine, which featured the band as one it’s summer stars and wrote, “The band’s multi-layered musical style comes from the various musical breeding grounds of its players” a particular quality that puts Elephant Revival far ahead of the rest of the crowd. “We create in service to the music,” Rose said. “We do not control what it is or what it will become.”-Elephant Revival  Fall & New Years Stampede Tour:Nov. 18 - Bluebird Theatre, Denver, CO***Nov. 19 - Boulder Theater, Boulder, CO ^^^Dec. 10 – Pac3, Carbondale, CODec. 29 - The Stage Stop, Rollinsville, CODec. 30 - Stargazers Theatre, Colorado Springs, CODec. 31 – Roseland Theatre, Portland, OR ###*** with Shel^^^ with The Steep Canyon Rangers###  New Years Eve. A Boston native based in Colorado since 1989, Reed Föehl's lush tones and solid songs touch upon the raw truth of love and tragedy, without sinking into saccharine sentimentally or cold remove. Blending the warm touch of country folk with the edgy honesty intrinsic to modern songwriting, Foehl’s captivating performances and alluring, enduring songwriting make both his live show and studio work unique. His simple, powerful, direct compositions have caught the attention of fans nationwide through commercial radio airplay and placements for television. Foehls' third solo release, Once An Ocean (release date Nov. 25 2011) comes on the heels of his acclaimed Stoned Beautiful (2007), a departure from the jam-oriented repertoire of his band Acoustic Junction and his first solo release, Spark (2004). With an endless stream of bleeding-heart songwriters, its not often that you find one with such a voice, along with a matched musical sensibility.  Reed has performed with the likes of Arlo Guthrie, Ray Lamontagne, The Be Good Tanyas, Dave Matthews, My Morning Jacket and many others.“He sings like he feels every note... For Dave McGraw and Mandy Fer (pronounced fair), the delicate intertwining of music, life and that always-fine interpersonal equilibrium has borne fruit in the shape of a truly one of a kind artistic partnership. With the release of the songwriters’ first official collaboration, Seed of a Pine, the duo’s striking ability to blend their lush folk and Americana-influenced styles is on full display.McGraw and Fer, along with Crow Wing's Andrew Lauher, recorded "Seed of a Pine" in Chicago, Illinois this summer with producer Zach Goheen. This new project debuts original duo material from both Dave and Mandy and includes special guests Allison Russell of Po'Girl, Jeremy Lindsay and Chris Merrill of JT and the Clouds, and Peter Mulvey.McGraw’s consoling, velvety baritone voice, reminiscent of Greg Brown, coupled with Fer’s soaring and subtly powerful vocal approach, likened to that of Patty Griffin, puts a spit-shine polish on the finely crafted body of songs they have generated together. The intricate weavings of their vocal harmonies are undeniably exceptional.McGraw’s hard-hitting tunes echo narratives of the culture and landscape of the American West, wherein he thoughtfully spins tales of everyday folks looking for a little something more in their earthly existence. Fer takes a more dreamy approach, evoking complex and ethereal imagery within her sultry and haunting melodies. Her potent electric lead guitar playing, in the vein of jazz-fusion guitarist John Scofield, bravely propels this duo through their uniquely heartfelt and spirited live performances, winning over audiences night after night.McGraw and Fer have amassed an admirable résumé and an ever-expanding fan base during their time playing music together. Having toured the U.S. from coast to coast, performing in highly esteemed theaters to intimate listening rooms, the pair has honed their skills sharing stages with fellow troubadours including Willy Porter, the Swell Season, Tony Furtado, Jeffrey Foucault and many others.

You can catch Dave and Mandy on March 3rd in Denver at Swallow Hill.

In 2006, songwriter Katya Chorover traded a view of Washington State’s San Juan Islands for a view of the San Juan Mountains, which she can now see from her living room in Colorado. It took this move from the rain-drenched Pacific Northwest to the dry, high deserts of Southwestern Colorado for her to find the inspiration she needed to complete her first album in ten years, Big Big Love. That’s a long time to wait for any artist, and though she was busy writing and living her life, she’d taken a long hiatus from performing. But the sounds of country music radio that rolled through the canyons of her home in Cortez, Colorado, subtly infused her new songs with a kind of dusty, rusty twang.

With a long history of songwriting in the Northwest, where her insightful lyrics and beautifully crafted melodies helped her stand far out from the pack of singer-songwriters, Katya returned to Portland, Oregon, to work with producer Casey Neill, an acclaimed songwriter himself, to record Big Big LoveNeill helped line up a host of Portland’s hottest roots musicians in a city that’s known as a hub for a new folk music revival, including two early members of the Decemberists, Jesse Emerson on bass and Ezra Holbrook on drums, and current Decemberist Jenny Conlee-Drizos on piano. Other musicians include Annalisa Tornfelt (Black Prairie) on fiddle, Matt Brown (She and Him) on guitar, Dan Tyack on pedal steel and dobro, and Zak Borden on mandolin.

The full band sound showcases Katya’s beautiful, crisp vocals, surrounding her voice with a forest of acoustic instruments and electric steel guitar The result is an album as delicately balanced as a desert rock pile, with one foot in the acoustic country music Katya’s grown to love, and another foot in the innovative Northwest roots music scene that she helped build years ago.

Big Big Love comes out of the gate with the title song, a beautiful waltz, singing “Come and paint me a picture/of a tranquil scene/a pond/a rowboat/a peaceful dream.”  Even with electric guitar and drums, “Big Big Love” could nearly be a country lullaby.  In fact, much of Katya’s new material came from her “parenting hiatus.”  “Since having a child, my life has slowed, and changed immeasurably,” she says.  “Continuing to be creative has been a challenge, but also has become somehow richer and even more pleasurable.” You can hear this new burst of creativity in a song like “Little Bird,” that plays with rhythm, spinning around and around the melody, or in the song “Cavalries of Love” that incorporates a beautiful trumpet line into a soaring song of hope.

Of course, the real star of the album is Katya’s voice. Her singing is so clear and beautiful, with just the slightest hint of a rough edged twang. Despite being a native Bostonian, then a long-time Seattleite, there’s a natural grace to her country sound. Her love for roots music is evident throughout the new album, and her poetic songwriting coupled with a deep traditional sound has garnered her a devoted fan base. As she opens with the words “Big big love, big big heart, big wide spirit sets you apart,” we can only feel the same big, big love right back at her, and we’re sure you will too.

Reed Foehl is pleased to announce a spring run that includes eight opening slots in April supporting fellow songwriting troubadour Todd Snider, and solo dates on the East Coast. Foehl, former front man of nineties jamband Acoustic Junction, is at work on his fifth solo album, tentatively titled “Color Me In” scheduled for release in Fall of 2012. Like 2009’s highly acclaimed release “Once An Ocean,” Foehl once again collaborated with producer & drummer John Rahman, and guitarist Jefferson Hamer. Recorded at Afterlife Studios in Vancouver BC, the album was recorded to tape, in a live setting, capturing the warmth of Foehl’s heartfelt voice and humble lyrical storytelling. Selections from “Color Me In” will be showcased at an album preview on April 13th at Swallow Hill Music in Denver, CO with special guests The Good Lovelies.

The eight show run supporting Snider, (who is touring behind his Mar. 6th release Agnostic Hymns & Stoner Fables) will start in Portland, OR on April 18th at The Aladdin Theater, followed by two nights in Seattle at the Triple Door, and hits venues in Spokane, Garden City (Boise), and Salt Lake City. The run with Snider will conclude in Foehl’s homebase of Colorado, on April 25th at Hodi’s Half Note in Fort Collins and April 26th in Boulder at the Boulder Theater. From Colorado, Foehl will venture to the East Coast, leading off with a show at Club Passim in his hometown of Boston for a co-bill with his brother Stewart Lewis; songwriter, children’s author and co-founder along with Foehl of Acoustic Junction. Other East Coast dates include Brooklyn, NYC, Washington DC, and Providence RI.

Steeped in the folk tradition, Foehl's lush tones and solid songs touch upon the raw truth of love and tragedy, without sinking into saccharine sentimentally or cold remove. Blending the warm touch of country folk with the edgy honesty intrinsic to modern songwriting, Foehl’s captivating performances and alluring, enduring songwriting make both his live show and studio work unique. Identical twins Laurie Shook (vocals, banjo, percussion and beatboxing) and Katelyn Shook (vocals, guitar and mandolin), are at the heart of the quirky folk band, Shook Twins. Rounding out the quartet is Niko Daoussis on bass/mandolin & Anna Tivel on fiddle. The Shook Twins intertwine gorgeous “twin” harmonies with an eclectic and eccentric blend of folk, roots, pop and fun. But don’t be fooled. The Shook Twins are not your average folk trio. They have a few tricks up their sleeves. Laurie may drop a beatbox in the middle of a song, while Katelyn plays the guitar, glockenspiel, mandolin, and sings into a telephone and bocks like a chicken. Laurie plays wah-wah Banjo and loops various melodies and beats to make it sound like more than just two identical twin sisters. Meanwhile Kyle lays down the groove adding resonant bass lines to the mix. It’s a refreshing romp filled with unexpected surprises.Catch The Shook Twins on tour in Colorado:Wed. Myshkin and Michelle discovered each other’s music while sharing the stage, ringing in 2012 at a New Years Eve show at the Ashland Armory, and immediately fell into shimmering, purring harmony. Both songwriters live in the mountains of southern Oregon, and try and find time to make music together when their touring schedules allow. Going on the road together seemed like the perfect way to do that and more.

Expect great songwriting, compelling voices, sweet rhythms, and the unexpected at every show, as these two avid collaborators explore each other’s songs with their own extraordinary talents.

About Myshkin: Oregon–based, New Orleans–schooled, and gypsy–spirited, Myshkin makes moving, experimental music out of broad empathy, sharp imagery, hypnotic rhythms and an enigmatic, unforgettable voice. Among her possessions: a name stolen from Dostoyevsky, an aesthetic formed by wide listening, voracious reading and restless exploration, and expressive skills honed knife–sharp on countless songs and stages. On the heels of a breakthrough European tour that yielded a nationally broadcast BBC Live session and a signing with The Local Agency UK, DoubleSalt Records is now officially releasing Myshkin’s Ruby Warblers’ That Diamond Lust in the United States.

About Michelle: Michelle McAfee is a Colorado born Americana, Folk/Pop Songstress with a lush coffeehouse voice and a knack for weaving stories into unforgettable melodies. Her debut album "Up In The Air" charted at 80/522 on the AMA Chart last spring (2012). She has opened shows for The Indigo Girls, G Love & Special Sauce, Michelle Branch, Jewel and has written & performed music for the film “Kissed By Lightening” (directed by Shelley Niro). Michelle helped co-create the Artist Collective "One Soul" which takes music & art into prisons. In her previous musical life, Michelle earned a living as a staff songwriter for publishers in Nashville and Los Angeles (Warner-Chappell, Sony/Maypop Music, Bluewater Music).

Catch Trout Steak Revival live and you can’t help but notice the band’s gift to thrive in the moment. In 2009 the band formed, sparked by jam sessions with close friends during backpacking trips and backyard parties. The sounds of fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar, bass, dobro, and accordion blend in TSR’s bluegrass-inspired mountain music. While each member of the band composes original tunes, harmonic contributions are added by the entire band, following the bluegrass tradition and creating a unique sound. Scores of Colorado venues have hosted TSR since first honing their sound at the legendary Bucksnort Saloon. The five members hail from Colorado and the Midwest. TSR’s lyrics visit themes of love, loss, settling into a new home, and other meditations, wrapped in thoughtful harmonies and conversation between their strings. The music comes from the heart and goes to the heart, whether you’re listening to a live performance or on your car stereo, as the golden light of the last hours of the day paint the scenery outside your windshield.Date: 5/6/13Time: 9:30 PMWhere: Conor O'Neill's 1922 13th St. Boulder, COPhone: 303-449-1922Tix: NO COVER

Portland Oregon-based festival favorites Shook Twins kicked off 2013 with a successful Colorado tour, newly released digital, announcement of a vinyl release, and a buzzworthy trip to SXSW. With no signs of slowing down the group just headed into the studio with Grammy nominated producer Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, Milo Green) and launched a fan supported Kickstarter campaign. The Shook Twins stated, “This will be our 3rd real studio album and we are finally at a point where we want to go BIG or go HOME. Luckily, "Home" is a wonderful thing too. We've been working really hard these past 8 years at building our music and our sound into something we are really proud of. We want to record it in a form that truly represents us in the best way possible.” To that end the group will spend three weeks immersed and “be in the music,” at Hadlock’s renowned Bear Creek Studios, in Woodinville WA with an anticipated Winter 2013 release.

To satiate fans awaiting the new release, a 7-song digital EP “Live at The Triple Door – 11/8/12” was recorded this past November in Seattle and is available at all upcoming shows, and features four new unreleased tracks, as well as live versions of some of the Shook Twins most requested songs. The Live EP release this past winter, coincided with a Colorado tour that had the band playing some of the Front Ranges most prominent listening rooms, as well as appearing on Colorado Public Radio’s popular new music channel Open Air.

Also, on tap for 2013 is a newly inked partnership with Ninkasi Brewing and their "Beer Is Love” campaign. With Ninkasi's help, Shook Twins will be pressing their 2011 release “Window” on vinyl, and showcased in March on Ninkasi’s stage at SXSW. Summer festival dates are stacking up with confirmed slots at Northwest String Summit (North Plains, OR), High Sierra (Quincy, CA), Summer Meltdown (Darrington, WA), MASSV (Sun Valley, ID) Mountain Fair (Carbondale, CO), Boats and Bluegrass (Winona, MN) and more soon to be added. The tune was written by violinist and band member Anna Tivel (Anna and the Underbelly) and videotaped as part of the “Humboldt Live Sessions” by Chuck Johnson in Humboldt County California. This past May the group headed into the studio with Grammy nominated producer Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, Milo Greene), and spent three weeks immersed “in the music,” at Hadlock’s renowned Bear Creek Studios in Woodinville WA. The sounds of fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar, bass, dobro, and accordion blend in Trout Steak Revival’s bluegrass-inspired mountain music. While each member of the band composes original tunes, harmonic contributions are added by the entire band, following in the bluegrass tradition and creating a unique sound. In just a few short years the band has built a steady and spirited fan base across Colorado and beyond. Finalists at the 2012 Rockygrass Band Competition (finishing a respectable 3rd), TSR’s lyrics visit themes of love, loss, settling into a new home, and other meditations, wrapped in thoughtful harmonies and conversation between their strings. Enthusiastically moving forward, Trout Steak Revival released their second studio album "Flight" in October 2012 receiving widespread national airplay and features in No Depression, FolkWords UK and others. Portland Oregon based The Moonshine is an idea on the rise. An incandescent blend of guitar, autoharp, fiddle, banjo and upright bass. A rhythmic network of folks and songs from everywhere and nowhere. This is roots music born of the endless wonder of the open countryside, just as it is music meant to be heard blaring from brightly lit dancehalls on crowded city streets. During a given performance one is as likely to hear a modernist take on a Carter Family song from the 20's, as an anti-GMO song written in the new millennia with a distinctly old-time feel. The Moonshine crafts a style all their own based on applying traditional stringband techniques to the unconventional, yet instantly familiar writing of Michael Gerard Levasseur (formerly performing as “Michael The Blind”). As “Michael The Blind,” Levasseur put out two solo records and the 2012 acclaimed Alder Street Records release “Are’s and Els.” "His songs have acquired a texture that’s more British post-punk than Americana. Are’s & Els gets rowdy at times, but it’s also darkly shaded, with melodies that seem to take shape on the fly, guided by Levasseur’s trembly, angsty vocals."-- Noel Murray, Onion AV Club

Based in Olympia Washington, The Oly Mountain Boys new Bluegrass "concept" album "White Horse" tells the life story of fictional historical early 20th century Northwest character Charlie McCarver through 18 songs of original bluegrass music. It follows the story of his marriage and break-up to his wife Lisa-Ann, his psychological crack and his descent into violence and life on the run. To further enrich the concept of the album, a 68 page booklet of original stories and artwork contributed by 11 writers and one painter accompanies the music.

For nearly 30 years Alice DiMicele has shared her trademark “groove folk” and “acoustic soul” with audiences from coast to coast. Along the way she has shared the stage and studio with some of music’s best. For her 13th independent recording “Swim,” (Release date: Jan. 26th, 2015) DiMicele assembled a bevy of kindred musical contemporaries to create a record that can only be characterized as a family affair. Backed by some of her most beloved community of musicians, DiMiceles’s multi-octave voice dives deep and soars high, invoking passionate emotion creating a fresh funky stew all her own as she explores folk, jazz, funk, rock, and soul.

Special guests, friends, and band members on Swim include; Bill Payne (Little Feat), Vince Herman and Andy Thorn (Leftover Salmon), Jeff Pevar (Jazz Is Dead, CPR, Ray Charles, Rickie Lee Jones), Skip Edwards (Dwight Yoakum), virtuoso violinist Darol Anger, Bonnie Paine and Daniel Rodriguez (Elephant Revival), Keith Greeninger, Mikey Stevens, and many more. Two rhythm sections provide the backbone on the album along with Alice’s trademark driving percussive acoustic guitar: playing on 7 of the 10 tunes are Damian Erskine (bass) and Reinhardt Melz (drums) from Gino Vannelli's band, while Jared May (bass) and Michael Forney (drums) play on the remainder of tracks.

Recorded deep in the heart of DiMicele’s home turf in Oregon’s Siskiyou mountain range, at The Studio at Pacifica in Williams (the old Steve Miller Ranch built in the 1970s), Swim was engineered and mixed by multi-faceted videographer, drummer and Grammy award winning producer/engineer Dennis Dragon (Captain and Tennille, Johnny Rivers, Carole King). Additional editing and recording was furnished by Jeff Pevar, who also plays electric guitar, dobro, and lap steel on the album.

Coinciding with the CD release is the video launch of ‘Swim,’ the title track off the album. “Swim” showcases what a funky powerhouse DiMicele can be when backed by a top-notch horn section and the spiraling keys of a Hammond B3. The video was filmed at the historic Ashland Armory in Ashland Oregon and filmed by the "Live at the Armory" crew, directed by Greg Frederick and edited by Pete Bedell. The video features musicians that appear on her album including Jeff Pevar, Damian Erskine, Mikey Stevens and others. The fantastic Coyote Rising Giant Puppet Troupe  participated in the "live" video shoot as well as colorfully attired folks young and old from the Ashland community. DiMicele states: “The title track "Swim" is a celebration of self-reliance and learning to take life by the horns! To create a life that one wants rather than letting life happen to you. It is also a cry for standing up for what is right and raising a voice for the voiceless."

In support of the new album, Alice DiMicele will be touring throughout 2015. For more information visit: www.AliceDiMicele.com

The Super Saturated Sugar Strings are a soul-shaking, infinitely charming band from the far north of Alaska. Powerful, funky and alt-folky, the SSSS’s have a very nostalgic, yet contemporary sound; rich with vocal harmonies, string melodies, and an element of carnival sideshow. Their gypsy-country vibe has stirred a fervent congregation of dedicated fans stretching from the Last Frontier to the lower 48. The Anchorage Press remarked "If they must be categorized, let them be called orchestral alternative rock, or foot-stomping symphonics. They’re to be savored and ingested through all the senses like one does with groups like Beirut, Andrew Bird, Pink Martini or Devotchka.” The SSSS’s have self-released three albums, Heart Shaped Leaves (2014), Harmonic Toast (2012), and are touring in support of their upcoming2018 release “All Their Many Miles."

Intuitive Compass is the diverse talents of song writer and guitar pioneer, Jason Dea West taken together with old time circus freak and accordionist Aurelia Anne Cohen. Purveyors of “Original Western Folk Music” they offer a timeless sound, invoking a musical America of the past with out ever sounding dated. Their provocative lines and dynamic arrangements include elements of country blues, old-time, vintage swing, jazz, frontier balladry, instrumentals and the perpetuation of traditional folk songs.
