Grateful Dead tributeers Dark Star Orchestra today announce their 9th Jamaican Jam in the Sand festival. Happening January 11-15, 2022 at the Jewel Paradise Cove Resort in Runaway Bay, Jamaica, the festival features four full beachside concerts (2 sets each night) from Dark Star Orchestra within the palm tree covered, beachfront stage. Nightly sets from special guests Melvin Seals & JGB featuring John Kadlecik with songs to fill the air.

Launched earlier this year The Music Plays the Band podcast from Dark Star Orchestra Drummer Rob Koritz has been highlighting and focusing on the influence of the Grateful Dead on the life and career of professional musicians within the jamband world and beyond.

Following tremendous success in the fall at Showtime at the Drive-In, today’s announcement by All Good Presents puts a focus on the safe return of bringing live concert experiences to its hometown of Frederick, MD.

It’s Showtime at the Drive-In boasts a state-of-the art sound system, a cosmic light show and a massive 20’x 40’ LED video wall uniquely positioned above the stage, plus local foods, craft brews and a safe environment to experience live music once again.

On Friday, April 16th and Saturday, April 17th, we present we present Dark Star Orchestra, a band with 20+ years of critical acclaim for masterfully continuing the Grateful Dead concert experience, at our new outdoor and socially distanced venue, The Caverns Above Ground Amphitheater.

Greetings fellow Deadheads, family, friends and all ~

A recent injury left Dark Star Orchestra musician Rob Eaton with a fractured ulna and radius in his left wrist. He currently is keeping these bones all together with pins, screws and a plate.

With guitar playing still on the horizon, Rob is expected to make a full recovery and return to the stage with DSO in the near future.

But I am very glad to finally be looking at 2020 in the rear-view mirror! It has been interesting seeing how different artists have been coping with the pandemic and related restrictions. I have, like everyone of course, had to cancel and reschedule a number of shows and scaled waaaaaay back on touring. Fortunately, I had been working on my Solo Acousti’Lectric show pre-covid and have been able to hang in there doing occasional outdoor events and extremely reduced-capacity indoor events.

Today, music fans can tune in for the first time to The Music Plays the Band podcast from Dark Star Orchestra Drummer Rob Koritz.
