New Family Dog is guitar player Jon "Blackdog" Ridnell's latest musical incarnation with his son Miles Ridnell on bass and vocals, combining his funk and jazz roots with the bluegrass music he has absorbed living in Nederland, Colorado. With a repertoire of around 500 songs including hundreds of originals, New Family Dog can perform as a duo as well as in larger combos featuring Matt Smart on drums, Eric Shneider (Quemando) on trumpet, Paul Stadler on tenor sax, with Jon and Miles on guitar and bass. Their vocal harmonies have the true family sound. They also have a new Brazilian Jazz Trio, The Ned Trio.

6 Feet Under is a rockin country blues tune written by Jon "Blackdog" Ridnell. Recorded by New Family dog. It is about being so in love with someone you feel you’re not going to make it without them. Featuring Sally Van Meter on Dobro. Micheal Wooten on drums. Miles Ridnell on upright bass. Jon Ridnell on guitar and vocals.
