MerleFest, presented by Window World, has officially come to a close, but not without a number of unforgettable collaborations, spontaneous sit-ins, and world-class performances at the much anticipated return of North Carolina’s beloved festival. Tedeschi Trucks Band, Sturgill Simpson, and Mavis Staples all brought extra MerleFest energy to the Watson Stage over the course of the weekend.
As the band A Thousand Horses played their final note on the State Street Stage, closing out Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion's 20th anniversary celebration, festival organizers at the Birthplace of Country Music (BCM) were already hinting to the media that next year's event would honor another big milestone, the 95th anniversary of the 1927 Bristol Sessions - the event known internationally as the "big bang of country music."

Among the late-night music purveyors of particular interest to Grateful Web readers include renowned Southern California bands Cubensis and The Higgs. On Saturday, The Higgs, whose mission is “Melting faces. Blowing minds. Cerebral jams for the masses,” will jam out post-fest at Samba By the Sea on the waterfront in the Redondo Beach Marina, just a few steps away from the festival site.
The music performance times have been announced for the 11th Orange County Brew Ska Ska. The annual event from Southern California based Brew Ha Ha Productions features an afternoon of craft beer tasting along with music from an all-star lineup of ska and ska punk bands on Saturday, September 11 at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado, CA.
