Starting off Summer 2013 by playing at the International Home and Housewares Convention in Chicago, specially invited by celebrity chef Guy Fieri, Sophistafunk kept the fire roaring all summer long, packing venues and festivals both nationally and internationally.

Melodic Caring Project, the Seattle-based organization that streams live concert events directly to hospitalized children, will join forces with singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile to stream a special concert benefitting Carlile's own Looking Out Foundation.  Raise the Roof 2013, the charity's 5th annual fund-raiser, will take place on Friday, September 6 at the Triple Door nightclub in Seattle, presented by AgainToday.com.Tickets for the event are already sold out, but Brandi Carlile fans will be able to access the live stream

Bay Area legends The Mother Hips will be in the Denver area on Friday, September 13 for a show at the Gothic Theatre in Englewood, CO. Fronted by songwriters Tim Bluhm and Greg Loiacono, the Hips have just released their eighth studio album, Behind Beyond, which marks 20 years since their debut release for Rick Rubin's American Recordings.

I wanna portray Whippersnap Arts & Music Festival 2013 as that scene from the Lion King where Rafiki holds Simba up over the African Pride Lands.  Alas, much like Scar and Mufasa there is an obscured version of the truth.  If I was to sing the praises of this festival, I would be naïve to the dark side that it did have.  Albeit the sleeper festival, the musical acts outshine the production which are the real pride of Whippersnappin to it.
