Certainly, one of the hottest tickets over this past weekend in Fort Collins was to the performance of the legendary revolutionary Ani DiFranco. Performing at the newly renovated and intimate setting of Washington’s in the Old Town District, DiFranco’s return was highly anticipated by her loyal following, reflected by the fact that her show sold-out the first day tickets went on sale.

On the heels of Alan Bibey’s 6th win as Mandolin Performer of the Year (SPBGMA, 2020), Alan Bibey & Grasstowne have joined the burgeoning Billy Blue Records label.

“Bluegrass veteran, Alan Bibey, is easily one of the very best mandolin players in our genre of all time,” says Jerry Salley, A&R/Creative Director for BBR. “It is an honor to have the opportunity to work with such a talent and with his incredible band, Grasstowne, one of the top groups in our industry.” 

Mary Chapin Carpenter will embark on an extensive tour this summer including a series of headline performances—including a special concert at Wolf Trap on August 22—as well as an extensive run of shows with Sugarland as part of their THERE GOES THE NEIGHBORHOOD TOUR 2020. Announcing their second wave of artists performing at this year’s 20th anniversary event, Summer Camp Music Festival shows no signs of slowing down in building anticipation for Memorial Day Weekend.  Founded in 2001 by Jay Goldberg Events and Entertainment, Summer Camp has stayed true to its community vibe roots while exploring almost every musical genre imaginable, all while bringing people together from all over the country for a weekend of fun, music and traditional camping.

Very early music from members of the ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND will be released on CD for the first time March 27, and vinyl that has been out of print since the late 1960's will be available as well. In all, four albums will trace three of the band member's nascent music projects including the Allman Joys, Hour Glass and 31st of February.

Premier jamgrass group Greensky Bluegrass just finished their 2020 winter tour this past weekend, closing out with a packed show at The Tabernacle in Atlanta, Georgia. Onboard with them were hotshot psychedelic rockers Ghost Light, who had joined Greensky as the opening act for the entire Winter run. Grateful Web caught the two together during their northeast run, at Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania.

One of the highest moments in Grateful Dead history came on September 16, 1978, in front of the Great Pyramid of Gizeh, when a rhythm and percussion choir led by Mickey Hart’s friend Hamza El Din opened for the band’s second set  by playing his song “Ollin Arageed.” As they sang and percussed, the moon went into eclipse.  One by one, the band members drifted on to the stage and joined them, eventually going into “Fire on the Mountain.”  It was pure magic.

The BeachLife Festival has added a new stage to its already packed programming for their second annual event happening this May 1-3, 2020. The Speakeasy Stage presented by Jack Daniels will welcome rock legends and Southern California punk staples alike to perform stripped-down versions from their catalogs for an intimate experience that can only be found at BeachLife.
