I’m old enough now that being told on Tuesday that I am going to cover the Northlands Music & Arts Festival on Friday feels rushed. Gone are the carefree days of the early ’00s. Back then, I went on tour with one day’s notice—without a tent.

Greensky Bluegrass added a spark of collaborative magic to Blue Ox Music Festival on Friday, June 28, 2025, when the band welcomed Grammy-winning flat-picker Molly Tuttle to the Pines Music Park stage in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Midway through an already-fiery first set, Tuttle strapped on her guitar for Sean Camp’s “My Love Will Not Change,” and the single morphed into a sprawling jam more than seven minutes long.

There’s something undeniably special about a weekend tucked away in the hills of Driftless Music Gardens, and this year’s Bonfire Music & Arts Festival was no exception. From June 12 – 14 in Yuba, Wisconsin, music lovers gathered under sunny skies and starry nights for three days of pure, unfiltered joy. With a fantastic lineup headlined by Railroad Earth, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, People Brothers Band, and Heatbox, the weekend became one long, beautiful jam session.
As the sun dipped toward the horizon on June 11—one of the year’s longest days—thousands of campers had already transformed the fields of the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, into a sprawling tent city. The festival officially runs four days, but attendees may now arrive as early as Tuesday. By Wednesday most fans were settled in, and the first wave of festivities had begun in Outeroo, the network of satellite campgrounds that comes alive before the main grounds open on Thursday.
If you’re within driving distance of the Catskills in New York (or even if you need to use some of those frequent-flyer miles!), head just north of Woodstock on Saturday, June 28, for Marco Benevento’s fourth annual “Follow the Arrow” festival.
