Improvisational rock band Spafford has released their newest live compilation, Live, Vol. 5, on all major streaming platforms. The collection continues the band’s tradition of capturing spontaneous, exploratory performances that highlight their deep musical chemistry and dynamic improvisation.
Mixed and mastered by Isaac Civitello and featuring album art by Sean Tierney, Live, Vol. 5 showcases standout moments from the band’s 2025 tour, with each track selected to represent Spafford’s live evolution and trademark jam-driven soundscapes.
The album opens with two sprawling performances from (le) poisson rouge in New York City (6/13/25), including the electronic-driven “Pursuit of Trance” (20:22) and a soaring 30-minute rendition of “Windmill.” From there, listeners are transported to stages across the East and South such as Riverfront Live (Cincinnati, OH), From the Earth Brewing Company (Roswell, GA), and 5 Points Music Sanctuary (Roanoke, VA).
Among the highlights are the rhythmic “Jam – Swingtown” (8/7/25), the introspective “Night After Night,” and the rarely played “Comfortable,” recorded during a particularly electric Georgia performance. The album also features a very rare “Soundcheck Jam” from Visulite Theatre in Charlotte, NC—a 23-minute exploration that blurs the line between rehearsal and performance.
