Award-winning bluegrass artist Rick Faris has released the lead-off single from his forthcoming album, “Deep River.” Written by Faris and Mark “Brink” Brinkman and produced by Stephen Mougin of Dark Shadow Recording, “Deep River” marks the first release since Faris announced his departure from Special Consensus. Faris is currently wrapping up production on his sophomore album The Next Mountain due out this summer. Click HERE to find “Deep River" on your preferred digital platform. Click HERE to listen to "Deep River" on YouTube.

For DJ download on AirPlay Direct click HERE.

On working with the musicians for The Next Mountain, Faris explains, “This has been long overdue for my pickers soul! The groove was instant and they are all great friends of mine, as well as top class musicians. I’m honored they wanted to be on the project and cannot thank them enough for their beautiful talents and everything they brought to the recording session!”

The release of “Deep River” follows Faris chart-topping debut project Breaking In Lonesome in 2019. The record reached No. 1 on the Bluegrass Today Charts and hit No. 6 in Bluegrass Today’s Top 10 albums of 2019.

Faris’ strong desire to shine out with a genuine connection to the fans and players on stage caught Dark Shadow Recording label head Stephen Mougin’s attention. Mougin signed Faris as a solo artist in September of 2018. Mougin explains, “Rick is a tremendously talented picker, singer, songwriter, and performer and it has been a joy to watch him grow since I first met him in 2002. For this album, he got out of his comfort zone and started co-writing with some of Bluegrass’s finest, coming up with a really strong collection of songs. The fiery band of pickers kept inspiring each other and elevating the recording, allowing for some powerful music. I’m thrilled for folks to hear this new single and get a glimpse of Rick climbing The Next Mountain.

Faris has assembled a cast of amazing Bluegrass pickers and singers for The Next Mountain and it will feature all original tracks.

Award-winning Bluegrass artist Rick Faris is releasing two new, uplifting tracks as part of his label’s new series, the ‘Dark Shadow Double.’ Both “See You On The Other Side” and “Can’t Build A Bridge To Glory” from Faris’ forthcoming Dark Shadow Recording album are available now on your preferred digital platform.

Recruiting Bluegrass Hall of Fame member Sam Bush on guest vocals, "See You On The Other Side" is an “uptempo bluegrassy number spotlighting a plethora of award-winning pickers.” Volatile Weekly. Written by Faris and beloved Bluegrass songwriter and label mate Rick Lang, "See You On The Other Side" is an inspirational track about finding peace when your time comes.

Collaborating with some of his musical heroes, Faris could not be more pleased with “See You On The Other Side.” He explains, “Sam Bush has formed the way the mandolin and bluegrass groove is supposed to sound to me. He brings energy and drive that is enhanced by Mike Bub, Jason Carter, Russ Carson and Stephen Mougin. Having these legends and monster pickers on a song I co-wrote with fellow DSR Artist Rick Lang was just the icing atop this Bluegrass cake!

Sam Bush

The second track of the Dark Shadow Double, “Can’t Build A Bridge To Glory” was written by Faris and decorated Bluegrass musician, songwriter and artist Becky Buller. The “anthemic gospel tune features tight harmonies, soaring vocals, and the signature-picking Bluegrass sound.” Volatile Weekly. With guest vocals by Bluegrass greats Ronnie Bowman, Eddie Faris and Dale Perry, “Can’t Build A Bridge To Glory” is a funky acoustic quartet number

One of Faris’ early inspirations, Ronnie Bowman lending his vocals to “Can’t Build A Bridge To Glory” was a monumental moment for him. He explains, “Ronnie Bowman’s singing has been in my ear since age 13 and seeing him at Poppy Mnt., just a couple years later, forever cemented him at the pinnacle of Bluegrass cool. Here’s a guy who’s not only an incredible singer but also a world class songwriter and has been on so many of my formative album collection stalwarts. Dale Perry was also on Ronnie’s records and Lonesome River Band’s early gospel cuts featuring his demonstrative bass vocals. Brother Eddie Faris perfectly rounded out this amazing vocal trio that is set in the swampy groove laid down by Zak McLamb and Laura Orshaw.”

The release of "See You On The Other Side" and "Can't Build A Bridge To Glory" follow the lead-off single, "Deep River" from Faris' forthcoming, solo album. Produced by Dark Shadow Recording label head Stephen Mougin, Faris has assembled a cast of astounding pickers and singers and for an album full of original songs.

Faris has been playing Bluegrass music since he could talk. He got his first break when the Bluegrass stalwart, Greg Cahill, called and asked him to audition for Special Consensus. The job was to be transformative for Faris because Greg hired him to play mandolin rather than the guitar he had been honing since he was a child. With 5 weeks to learn the mandolin and win the audition, Rick Faris stepped into the next stage of his career. After 6 years, 1 Grammy-Nomination and 2 IBMA Awards he switched back home to guitar and the band picked up another 3 IBMA Awards and a 2nd Grammy Nomination. Rick spent a total of 11 years with the globetrotting Special Consensus. Under Greg Cahill, he learned the meaning of professionalism and giving back to the Bluegrass community.

Rick signed a deal as a solo artist in 2018. With watertight harmony singers and mind-blowing pickers, Rick set out to show the world what his brand of Bluegrass sounds like.

Dark Shadow Recording has signed Grammy nominated fiddler and vocalist, Laura Orshaw, to its roster. A two-time IBMA Award-winning artist, and the first Female to win SPBGMA Fiddle Player of the Year, Orshaw is currently in pre-production for her debut Dark Shadow project, due out in 2022. A seasoned performer, Orshaw has toured throughout the world opening and sharing the stage with artists such as Del McCoury, Ricky Skaggs, John Scofield, Jim Lauderdale, Old Crow Medicine Show, Sarah Jarosz, Tony Trischka, Becky Buller, and Darol Anger among others.

Orshaw joins Dark Shadow’s roster of established Bluegrass artists including Becky Buller, Rick Faris, Rick Lang and Stephen Mougin.

I’m beyond thrilled to be joining the Dark Shadow Recording family,” said Orshaw. “Although I’ve known Stephen and Jana (DSR Owners) for many years, my first chance to work with Stephen in the studio was in 2017 when my then fiancé, Tony Watt, and I recorded a duet version of Guy Clark and Shawn Camp’s “Magnolia Wind.” We gave the song out as a wedding favor to our guests, and sang it as part of our wedding vows. That memory is very dear to my heart, and since then I’ve had the chance to work with Dark Shadow Recording on projects with Becky Buller, Rick Faris, and Stephen’s own solo project. Stephen’s skills as a producer and engineer are truly awe-inspiring, but I am most impressed with his work coaching artists and creating an environment where they can do their best work. It’s an honor to join Stephen, Jana, and the rest of the DSR family!”

“Anyone who has heard Laura Orshaw play and sing knows she’s a powerhouse,” said Dark Shadow Recording owner Stephen Mougin. “In studio sessions, I’ve watched her inspire fellow musicians to “up their game” because of her offerings to a tune, one of the many reasons I asked her to play on my own album. She has toured with a variety of bluegrass bands from modern to traditional and manages to sound perfectly at-home in every scenario. Beyond being a great human, Laura is a determined, hard-working, talented artist and I’m thrilled that she is joining the Dark Shadow Recording family.”

According to Bluegrass Today, Faris has “created such a naturally engaging and enticing offering. Beyond the quality of the songs themselves, the musicianship is first rate, practically a given considering those that are involved. The fact that the melodies and arrangements fit so well in sync makes it clear that even at this point in his career, Faris is firing on all cylinders. Grammy nominated songwriter Rick Lang has released two new tracks as part of a ‘Dark Shadow Double,’ from his forthcoming album A Tale To Tell. Both “They Sawed Up A Storm” feat. Becky Buller on lead vocal and “Toodleoo” feat. Stephen Mougin on lead vocal are now available. An IBMA award-winning singer/songwriter, Lang is set to release his story driven album this Spring on Dark Shadow Recording. The project, produced, engineered and mixed by Mougin, will mark Lang’s seventh studio album. Click HERE to find “They Sawed Up A Storm” and HERE to find “Toodleo” on your preferred digital platform.

Every track on Lang’s forthcoming record was inspired by true, historic events. When writing “They Sawed Up A Storm,” Lang wanted to tell the story of the strength, skill, and determination of a group of women who operated a sawmill at Turkey Pond in Concord, NH in 1942.

The purpose of the sawmill was to salvage timber downed by the great 1938 hurricane.

Lang explains, “A colleague of mine in the lumber industry, Sarah Shea Smith, uncovered the story of the Woman’s Sawmill at Turkey Pond NH. After much research she wrote a book about the events that took place leading to the building of the mill and propelling this group of women to become heroes of their time. Sarah’s book inspired me to write this song. Thirteen patriotic women went to the NH State House offering to run the sawmill after the men operating it joined the WW2 effort. Although many doubted this would work, they were given permission, and the salvage operation continued. This group of brave, determined women in service to their country, saved the day and made history. This song was written to celebrate their historic accomplishment and share their story in song."

Dark Shadow Recording has signed Full Cord to its roster. For the past 15 years, Full Cord has been making a name for themselves blending traditional bluegrass music with jazz, western swing, and rock n’ roll while keeping the traditional bluegrass feel alive and well. These influences make every performance memorable and unique. Guitarist Eric Langejans, bassist Todd Kirchner, mando specialist Brian Oberlin, fiddler Grant Flick, banjo picker extraordinaire Gabe Hirshfeld and vocalist Katie Kirchner – are at the top of their game and gaining momentum fast.

Recent highlights include winning the 2021 ROMP Festival Band Contest in Owensboro, KY, 2021 IBMA Songwriters Showcase (Brian Oberlin; song "Downtown") and a performance at the Lincoln Theatre during the IBMA World Of Bluegrass in Raleigh, NC.

Stephen Mougin offers: "Full Cord is an exciting band-on-the-rise that has the whole package: great songwriting, tight picking, and excellent vocals. I was thrilled to catch their shows at IBMA this year after some friends told me about them during the festival season. Their performance energy is infectious and their breadth of material is impressive. I can’t wait to get started on their upcoming album to see what we can create together!"

"After seeing the success of the artists that Dark Shadow has worked with, I couldn’t think of a better label to partner with for our next project." says Todd Kirchner (bass, band leader). "I’m really looking forward to working with them."

Full Cord joins Dark Shadow’s roster of established artists including Becky Buller, Rick Faris, Laura Orshaw, Rick Lang, Stillhouse Junkies and Stephen Mougin.

Fri, 02/04/2022 - 2:01 pm

IBMA Award-winning artist Laura Orshaw has released an upbeat, Bluegrass bursting version of inspiring track, “Hank.” The first release since she signed with Dark Shadow Recording, “Hank” was originally released by indie-folk duo “Tattletale Saints.” Orshaw immediately resonated with the lyrics which led it to be the debut track from her forthcoming record due out later this year. Click HERE to find “Hank” on your preferred digital platform today.

Produced by Dark Shadow label head Stephen Mougin, “Hank” poetically tells the story of Hank Williams, who was a huge influence on Orshaw. “When I was growing up, my dad had a bluegrass and country radio show, and he kept his music library in our basement,” Orshaw explains. “Like a kid in a candy store, on weekends I would go down and pick something out to listen to on the little boom box in my room. Certain voices mesmerized me from the moment I first heard them, and Hank Williams was one of those. I just had to immerse myself in his sound and songs, tracking down everything I could about his music and life. Connections to childhood memories are some of the strongest, and so I identified with the lyrics to “Hank” immediately. These moments of awe, inspiration, and connection are what keeps me playing and singing to this day!”

Currently in-studio wrapping up production on Orshaw’s record, Mougin was immediately on board with “Hank” being Orshaw’s lead-off single. “This track was a lot of fun to put together, especially with THESE musicians,” said Mougin “I’m thrilled with how “easy” the song sounds, despite its quick tempo. Laura knocked it out of the park with her vocal and fiddle work on this cut, digging deep to her traditional roots. The track really makes me want to throw some Hank Williams on the turntable.”

The Music video "HANK" was filmed during the album tracking in Dark Shadow Recording studio in December 2021.

Grammy nominated songwriter Rick Lang has released his long awaited album, A Tale To Tell.  This  captivating collection of story songs, and his debut album on Dark Shadow Recording, is brought to life with the incredible vocal talents of Tim Stafford, Shannon Slaughter, Becky Buller, Trey Hensley, David Parmley, Stephen Mougin, Luke Munday, Kati Penn, Alan Bartram, Brandon Rickman, Jana Mougin, Rick Faris, and James Kee.

“Really hope folks enjoy listening to this new collection of story songs, all of which are based on true stories and real life experiences. Stephen Mougin and I have been planning this album for years. He did a brilliant job overseeing and producing this new creative work. I’m eternally grateful to all the performers for sharing their talents and bringing these songs to life,” says Rick Lang.

"Many years ago, when Rick Lang brought me this idea and a huge collection of his writing”, proclaims producer Stephen Mougin. “I was immediately hooked. The opportunity to breathe life into these songs, curate a stable of known and lesser-known vocalists, and then release it on our DSR label was too much to resist. Rick and I share a New England heritage and this project features story-songs, most of them true, with a heavy emphasis on tales from that region. I’m proud of the album we’ve created and thankful to all of the amazing performers who helped bring “A Tale To Tell” from concept to reality. I think folks are going to really enjoy this peek back in time to the hardships, love, determination, and perseverance of past generations.”

IBMA Award-winning artist Laura Orshaw releases new single, “I Can’t Settle Down,” with Dark Shadow Recording. Produced by label head Stephen Mougin, the song features Jenee Fleenor (2021 CMA Musician Of The Year) and Brittany Haas (2021 Artist in Residence at East Tennessee State University). This country-infused track showcases Orshaw’s incredible fiddle skills and captivating vocal abilities. “I Can’t Settle Down” was written by Roberta Gordon and Tim Carter and is available anywhere you consume music now.

Musicians: Laura Orshaw (Vocal/Fiddle), Jenee Fleenor (Vocal/Fiddle), Brittany Haas (Fiddle), Alan Bartram (Bass), Reed Stutz (Mandolin) and Catherine BB Bowness (Banjo)

Nashville Noise hosted the exclusive audio first listen.

Orshaw shares: "I used to think of myself as a homebody, but in the past few years I’ve realized that I love waking up on the tour bus, not knowing exactly where I am until I walk out the door. This sentiment paired with the square dance fiddle tune melody, is what drew me to ‘I Can’t Settle Down’.  Jenee Fleenor and Brittany Haas joined me for the triple fiddle section, and we created a rhythmic ‘wall of sound’ that’ll make you want to shuffle around the dance floor!"

Orshaw was a recent guest on Steve Martin’s Unreal Bluegrass to discuss the new single.

“I Can’t Settle Down” is the third single from Laura’s forthcoming album, Solitary Diamond, set to be released on May 27, 2022.

The single is available to DJs and radio programmers on AirPlay Direct https://airplaydirect.com/music/lauraorshaw-solitarydiamond/ or by request to DSR Radio contact, Jana Mougin: [email protected]

Fred Kosak shares: "Colorado Bound tells the story of my grandfather, Al Kosak, driving from Duluth, Minnesota out to the Pacific Ocean in the early 1950s. He took the family Ford station wagon and kept his speed at 35 miles per hour the whole way since he’d calculated that would give him the best gas mileage. I don’t know how long it took him, but he eventually made it all the way to the California coast.”

The single’s artwork has a wallpaper motif inspired by the historic Diamond Belle Saloon, the Strater Hotel’s iconic piano bar in downtown Durango, where the band was born. This art style will also be depicted on two upcoming singles as well as the album cover.

Full Cord, hailing from Grand Haven, Michigan, has taken 1st place in the 49th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Contest!

Telluride Bluegrass Festival has been a mainstay of festivals and produces a highly respected band contest. Winners in years past include Lil' Smokies, Dixie Chicks, Greensky Bluegrass, Trout Steak Revival, Ryan Shupe & The Rubber Band and many more notable acts.

The band contest consists of a two-round, three-song performance where twelve bands are narrowed to four that perform on the main stage on the second day. Full Cord focused on original tunes through both rounds and were announced the winners on main stage Saturday (June 18) morning.

"What an amazing experience to win the Telluride Band Contest.", says Todd Kirchner, the bass player and founding member.  "Its such an incredible privilege to stand on the stage that all of heroes have stood and performed. Its a bit surreal. We’re honored and humbled to have won."

As part of their prize, Full Cord is the first band officially booked for the 50th anniversary festival in 2023 and will show up with their new Dark Shadow Recording album, slated for spring release.

Stephen Mougin, record label owner and producer, shares: “I’m so proud of Full Cord for all of their hard work leading up to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Contest. They performed six original songs (three in each round) and even spent time re-arranging tunes to make sure they fit in the three minute song allotment. I’m happy that the festivarians of Planet Bluegrass got their first taste of this fantastic band. Playing on the Telluride main stage is nerve-wracking for ALL of us, and Full Cord did an impressive job showing exactly why they belong there."

Cool story, cool melody, and a total Stillhouse Junkies vibe."

Award-winning trio Stillhouse Junkies are celebrating the release of their latest single, “Never Going Back Again,” on Dark Shadow Recording. The 2021 IBMA Momentum Band of the Year and two-time Telluride Bluegrass band contest finalists are comprised of Alissa Wolf, Cody Tinnin, and Fred Kosak. Produced by label head Stephen Mougin, the single is a spirited cover of the beloved Fleetwood Mac hit and effortlessly blends their eclectic influences — from Folk to Bluegrass.

“Never Going Back Again” made its debut on KDHX’s “Down Yonder” with Keith Dudding.

The band shares: "We spent months searching for the right cover to include amongst these other songs. It had to be one that had the right vibe and theme and felt like it fit naturally into the band’s repertoire. We are all huge fans of Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 'Rumours' album and, once we settled on an era and sound, this one was an easy choice."

Dark Shadow Recording is thrilled to welcome the Henhouse Prowlers to the DSR label family, joining Becky Buller, Rick Faris, Laura Orshaw, Rick Lang, Stillhouse Junkies, Full Cord, Nedski and Mojo, and Stephen and Jana Mougin. A band that has been making waves on the bluegrass scene for a number of years, the Henhouse Prowlers have made a mission of taking bluegrass around the globe and Dark Shadow Recording is eager to join them on their journey.

Label-head Stephen Mougin comments: "I really enjoyed their wildly energetic 2021 IBMA Raleigh Street Festival performances and I immediately knew I wanted to work with them. Appreciating their professionalism, business acumen, and musical personality, I’ve had my eye on the band for a number of years, but it seemed like NOW was the time.

When we started chatting about joining forces, I felt like we had known them forever. Like old pals, long-traveled touring partners, and musical conspirators, we realized our collective missions were aligned. It’s time to make some music!"

Founded 17 years ago with the simple desire to play original and powerful bluegrass, this quartet now finds themselves at the intersection of performance, diplomacy and education.

On stage, the group's enthralling performances give audiences a sense of how much they love what they do. On record - including their 2021 release and ninth full length album, The Departure - the band explores their collective life experiences through songwriting and intricate instrumentation. While bluegrass is the undeniable foundation of the Prowlers music, the band bends and squeezes the traditional form into a sound all their own.

Working with the U.S. State Department and under their own nonprofit, Bluegrass Ambassadors, the Prowlers have toured over 25 countries across the globe. The group's experiences with people and musicians across Africa, Asia, Europe, and The Middle East have shaped the band’s world view and broadened the group’s direction towards bridging cultural gaps with music, educational programs and workshops. Using traditional American music as a foundation, connecting folk music and cultures the world over, the Prowlers incorporate international elements into their already robust repertoire of unique traditional American music.

Whether performing live or presenting workshops, and wherever they are, the Henhouse Prowlers find and spread the commonality we share as human beings through the universal language of music. You can feel it at every show.

IBMA Award-winning artist Becky Buller has released a new single "Millworker", a fresh and sprightly take on a James Taylor classic. While there have been other covers of this song, this is one of the few covered by a female artist.

Becky shares: "Back in 2018, the band and I were headed north to perform for the Boston Bluegrass Union. I wanted to do a song that mentioned Massachusetts and immediately thought of this James Taylor tune from his Flag album. We loved it so much, we’ve included it in our shows ever since. James wrote it from the perspective of a widowed mother who is enduring the drudgery of millwork to sustain her family. As a working mother myself, this woman’s story resonates with me on many levels. And I love the wistful, angsty melody. James can sure paint a picture with his words. He’s one of my all-time favorite writers."

The track features Becky's touring band (Ned Luberecki on banjo, Daniel Hardin on bass, Wes Lee on mandolin and Jake Eddy on guitar), and guest vocalists Andrea Zonn and Dan Tyminski.

Bluegrass Today had an exclusive first listen yesterday. Producer Stephen Mougin shared a story about why this was a prime choice for Buller's upcoming album of cover songs."

A number of years ago we had a Becky Buller Band retreat on the campus of ETSU, hosted by her then-guitar-player Dan Boner. I was there as band coach and producer to work through a bunch of her material, and I distinctly remember spending some healthy time re-arranging Millworker. The song was powerful and the band and I had some fresh ideas to bring it to life in the voice of Becky Buller. She sings this song with deep empathy for the character, as though she might have lived the story herself. Becky has been playing this song at her shows for a long time and as we started talking about the possibility of a covers album, I immediately asked her to include it! We are releasing a Becky Buller Christmas album later this year, so the Covers album is a way off, but we couldn’t resist getting an early start!”

The song is available for DJ download on AirPlay Direct.

ABOUT BECKY BULLER:

Buller took home two IBMA Awards in 2020, making her a 10-time IBMA Award-winning Bluegrass artist and musician. Award-winning trio Stillhouse Junkies are celebrating the release of their latest album, Small Towns, on Dark Shadow Recording. The 2021 IBMA Momentum Band of the Year and two-time Telluride Bluegrass band contest finalists are comprised of Alissa Wolf, Cody Tinnin, and Fred Kosak. Produced by label head Stephen Mougin, the 12-track album effortlessly blends their varied influences — from Folk to Bluegrass & Country.

In celebration of the release, the band will have a television appearance on WSMV’s Today In Nashville September 9th, and will host an album release party and show at the iconic Station Inn in Nashville tomorrow, September 10th.

Producer Stephen Mougin shared: “We began rehearsing and arranging this album via video conferencing starting in the first week of January. I was immediately struck by their work ethic, singular focus, and determination. When they walked into the studio they were the most prepared group I’ve ever worked with, resulting in a fun, easy recording process. We took time to experiment with a few things along the way and they STILL ended up finishing two days early. I can’t explain the joy we had making this record. There were tons of laughs, high-fives, and positive vibes which totally translate to the audio on the album."

With all three band members sharing lead vocal and songwriting duties, the Junkies conjure a wide range of tonal landscapes that pay tribute to the iconic sounds of Gillian Welch, the Allman Brothers, Tim O'Brien, the Wood Brothers, John Hiatt, and countless others while breaking new musical ground with their genre-bending original material.

All hailing from small towns, they have spent much of their lives collecting the very kind of stories, snapshots, and experiences that make for unique, poignant, emotionally charged songwriting. Now, guitarist Fred Kosak, fiddler Alissa Wolf, and bassist Cody Tinnin have distilled this wealth of material down into Small Towns, a conceptually unified collection of twelve songs brought to life with the help of intrepid producer and label owner Stephen Mougin. The album turns a mirror on the lives of its creators, showcasing their hometown of Durango, Colorado and offering vignettes drawn directly from the band’s busy national touring schedule that has seen them play in over forty states and three countries.

Small Towns is a song cycle that could only emerge from the hearts, minds, and fingers of a group like Stillhouse Junkies, with their deep musical chemistry and countless hours spent exploring the American landscape together. The album is the work of a band in full stride, and its 12 songs highlight the versatility, virtuosity, and grittiness that have come to define the Junkies’ sound.

IBMA award-winning Bluegrass artist Becky Buller has released a riveting version of holiday classic Last Christmas. Joined by Sierra Hull, Dan Tyminski, Ron Block, Barry Bales, and Todd Livingston, “Last Christmas" is a grassy cover of the mega-hit by 80’s rockers WHAM. Recorded and mixed by Stephen Mougin at Dark Shadow Recording and mastered by David Glasser at Airshow Mastering. The song is currently released to radio and fans can listen on their favorite stations and by pre-buying the album at the link here.

Becky explains: "Folks react strongly to this song [‘Last Christmas’].  They either love, love, love it or they absolutely cannot bear to hear it; there is NO in-between.  So...was including it on my first-ever Christmas record a risky move?  Probably.  Is kicking off the album with it complete insanity?  Yup!  But y’all know how crazy I am by now. It’s our daughter, Romy’s, fault I even considered trying ‘Last Christmas’ in the first place.  She was having a Wham! moment during the 2021 Holiday season.

I guess I just heard the song so many times, my mind started studying on how I could Bluegrass it up. What my guest dream team of that day (Barry, Ron, Sierra, Todd, Stephen, and Dan) came up with is a little bit different from the original version… But I hope you’ll give our rendition of “Last Christmas" a spin and have a Totally ‘80s Christmas party while you’re listening!”

Producer Stephen Mougin: “Honestly, when Becky brought me this idea, I wasn’t too sure about it. It’s a little far out - on paper. As we all started to arrange it, experimenting with different ideas, the song really blossomed into a FUN bluegrassy track. The more they played it, the more it grew. The players all really brought their ‘A’ game and turned this tune into an energetic cut that puts a unique stamp on the song.”

The song was recorded and mixed by Stephen Mougin at Dark Shadow Recording and mastered by David Glasser at Airshow Mastering.

The single is available to download on AirPlay Direct: https://airplaydirect.com/music/BeckyBuller-ThePerfectGift/
