Raw, expressive, and jam-heavy, Live at Park City Music Hall captures Night Zero in their element, stretching songs into uncharted spaces and transforming deep improvisation into an all-out party. The energy is infectious and the musicianship razor-sharp, making this not just a concert film, but a front-row invitation to experience a band best understood live. In many ways, it is a perfect illustration of what makes this group tick, embracing and exploring the beauty of the unknown.
According to guitarist Rob Compa, “Night Zero is a band... we think. It started as sort of a revolving door jam session but quickly figured out this specific lineup had an undeniable chemistry…The low-pressure environment allows us to take risks and write music that could only happen with these four people.”
“We pride ourselves on really going for it and taking chances on stage,” adds bassist Zdenek Gubb. “We write original music as vehicles to the unknown… The chemistry we’re building is palpable, and we inspire one another to reach further musically. It’s hard to call it a side project—it’s one of the main ones for sure.”
On choosing to release the Park City Music Hall show, Gubb noted that “Sometimes things fall into place perfectly, and that’s what happened here. Between Dave being available for his gorgeous video work, Chris being available for his beautiful mix, and a killer crowd to boot—it all aligned. This show exemplifies the beginning of something great. We had new songs that had never been played live before, familiar covers that scratch an itch for fans, and jams that act like a wormhole to another time.”
Managed by Mark Ray of the recently launched High Gear Talent (Stowe, VT), these shows are only the beginning. 2026 will bring them into the studio, and Rob Compa promises, “More shows!” You can catch them one last time this year opening for Kung Fu at The Putnam Place in Saratoga before they turn their focus towards writing and recording.
