In James McMurtry’s latest album, The Horses and the Hounds, the acclaimed songwriter backs personal narratives with an elegant, yet no-bullshit approach. McMurtry recorded the album with legendary producer Ross Hogarth (Ozzy Osbourne, John Fogerty, Van Halen, Keb’ Mo’) at Jackson Browne’s Groove Masters Studio in Santa Monica, California, a world class studio that has housed such legends as Bob Dylan, David Crosby, as well as Browne himself for I’m Alive.

This past weekend, LA by-way-of NY artist, Shira Elias, formerly of Turkuaz, sat down with Grateful Web to discuss her newly released single “Earth Sun” from sophomore companion EP Services, as well as her upcoming debut as a solo performer.

The production of Services was a collaboration between Shira and husband/producer MEGA, and is scheduled to release on Friday, December 2, 2022.

Railroad Earth will be celebrating New Year’s Eve in Chicago at the Vic Theatre for a two-night bluegrass extravaganza, featuring the legendary Peter Rowan. Musketeer Gripweed was the name of a character played by John Lennon in the 1967 British comedy film titled “How I Won The War." The name is unique and memorable and that is what the band has portrayed with their music since their beginning in 2005. The line-up consists of Jason Downing on vocals, guitar and harmonica, Stu Crair on drums, Matthew Goldberg on keyboards, Ben Hockett on bass, and Lance Ruby on guitar. Together these five gifted musicians take you on a nothing-but-net wild ride of goodness through music.

Sicard Hollow is one of the most exciting new artists on the scene today. Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, the jam-inspired bluegrass outfit has been making waves with their innovative take on the timeless bluegrass tradition, mixing the members’ various backgrounds in electronic music, rock, and all points in between, creating a new sound that’s unique and fresh.
