Tedeschi Trucks Band is as much a musical movement as they are a band. They are a large group of gifted musicians that travel around the country together as a family, bandmates and friends. The dozen musicians who make up this powerful force of musical joy are all well-seasoned road warriors. They spend countless hours and miles on the road, chasing the moonlight through the windshields of their homes on wheels to arrive at their next gig. With so many band members come many musical influences and musical ideas.
There are few mid-sized music festivals in the United States with the legacy, devoted fanbase, and magical ambience that match Northern California’s High Sierra Music Festival (HSMF). This year’s installment of the annual Fourth of July weekend gathering in Quincy, CA, proved once again why HSMF deserves such accolades.

Watching them, it doesn’t hurt that the junior Allman and Betts share their dads’ genetic exteriors. Betts, in particular, has features that emulate his famous father. Better still, Devon and Duane’s voices have tone and timbre similar to Gregg and Dickey, and their guitar shredding and (for Devon) organ skills would make their papas and Uncle Duane proud. I’m still going to vote for Derek Trucks as the top of a very impressive heap in this generation of Allman Bros. spinoffs—but he actually played in the Allman Brothers, so maybe he doesn’t count. I suppose that bumps D & D up to the pinnacle.
Today, Grace Bowers, 18 year old, meteorically fast rising guitarist, songwriter and bandleader dropped a music video (directed by Athena Kulb) for Madame President, the timely song from her breakout album Wine On Venus.
