For decades the onset of Spring meant gathering at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida for a weekend of fun, family, Bluegrass and string music. A beloved tradition continues as the picturesque grounds play host to a new take on a classic family-friendly gathering with the 3rd Annual Suwannee Spring Reunion taking place Thursday through Sunday, March 21-24, 2019.

Organizers of the 11th annual Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival released their “sneak preview” music lineup today, with Shovels & Rope at the top of the early band list.

The Charleston, S.C., roots/rock duo were joined on the bill by progressive bluegrass acts Billy Strings and Mountain Heart, festival mainstays Yarn, Charlottesville jam/rock band Kendall Street Company and rising rock act C2 & The Brothers Reed.

The sad passing on October 12 of Andy Goessling, founding member of Railroad Earth, the ongoing host band for the Hangtown Music Festival (Oct. 25-28), was a unifying thread at this year’s fest, prompting outspoken love, respect, and admiration. In the end, the shared loss sparked a like-minded cause for life celebration and a shared process of moving forward amid a backdrop of fabulous music, Halloween costumes, and community.

Cellarmaker Brewing Company out of San Francisco has built a stellar reputation for their consistent artisanal brews. As evidenced from their fifth-anniversary celebration hosted at Great American Music Hall last Saturday night, they sure know how to treat their community. Foremost the evening’s entertainment was a fine progressive bluegrass lineup of Billy Strings with Cold and in the Bay supporting.

He began putting in his time as a boy, never putting that guitar down or giving up when it got tough. His father and community fostered the bluegrass and folk spirit that runs through his veins. The premiere bluegrass festival of the summer is returning to The Walsh Farm in the sleepy Catskill town of Oak Hill, NY this July 19th through the 22nd. MOKB Presents has announced details and the lineup for the inaugural two-day music event Holler On The Hill that is set to take place on Saturday and Sunday, September 22-23 in Indianapolis at historic Garfield Park. The event will feature headlining performances by critically acclaimed six-piece soul outfit St. Paul & The Broken Bones and emerging indie-rock band Moon Taxi plus over 30 national, regional, and local performers.
