John Kadlecik

It’s a special double-wireservice week! The John Kadlecik Band Winter Tour 2018 is complete and tickets for all but one show are on sale now! The lineup for this tour will feature Jay Lane (Furthur, RatDog, Primus) on drums, Benjie Porecki (Keller Williams' Grateful Gospel, Chuck Brown) on keyboards, and Wavy Dave Burlingame (Cornmeal, JK Band, Wingnut) on bass. This tour will be split into two legs...

Thinking you've seen the John Kadlecik Band before is like saying you've heard Jerry play, "Dark Star," before. And if you haven't seen JKB, well then, you just don't know, do you? Ever dynamic, John has long since moved from prodigy to mentor. Master of the improvisational moment, one never knows what might arise when John takes the stage, and that alone is reason enough to set foot on the hill. Mixing and matching bands like notes on his guitar, John is joined by Further's Jay Lane on drums, the ever versatile, Benjie Porecki on keys, and frequent, Terrapin Flyer, Wavy Dave Burlingame on bass, (maybe a banjo, maybe not) setting the conditions for a unique, wonder-filled, mind-enriching musical experience.

John Kadlecik is a singer, songwriter, and musician who can play most string instruments but is primarily known for being a guitar-slinging sideman to Grateful Dead members Phil Lesh and Bob Weir in the band Furthur. Also, an original co-founder of the group Dark Star Orchestra, John has been performing improvisationally-oriented shows regularly since the late 1980's and touring nationally for the last 20 years.

Skull and Roses is a celebration of community, a community generated by the music of the Grateful Dead.  Our music.

Somebody asked Uncle John what being a Dead Head was all about.  He smiled and said, “When you want to be fully alive, an individual but also tied at the heart within a rich, vibrant family, somebody who wants to have a lot of fun and probably dance, too – then you’re a Dead Head.”

Though the winter ahead may be icy, at least we can celebrate the days becoming longer! The big news around here is the first onsale announcement for the Golden Gate Wingmen Spring Tour 2018! More announcements are on the way through the first week of January.

Golden Gate Wingmen: April 13, 2018 at the Great American Music Hall. Tickets go on sale December 22.

John Kadlecik will be participating in the upcoming Oteil Burbridge & Friends tour, along with Melvin Seals, Jay Lane, Eric Krasno, Weedie Braimah, and Alfreda Gerald! Ticket for all shows are available now! Visit oteil.com/tour for more info & ticket links.

But that's not all! The next John Kadlecik Band Tour with Jay Lane, Benjie Porecki, & Joe Gallant is right around the corner, and most shows are also on sale today!

Fall Equinox Tour 2017

It hit me quickly after I had arrived at Jerry Jam 2017. It was the kind of revelation that, once discovered, seems obvious. But when it hit me, it felt earth-shattering. Not to mention fear-inducing. I looked down at the note I had just written. “I’m not going to have a lot to write about.” This came to me when I was watching The John K. band Friday afternoon.

After New Orleans, the solo tour resumes, bringing me back to Birmingham, AL after many years and stopping aging in Chattanooga before dropping in to the Grateful for Spring Festival at Mountain Sky in Jermyn, PA.  JKB has a short mid-Atlantic weekend run before the solo tour picks back up in the Pacific Northwest June 1 & 3! June 9 & 10 I am part of two great all-star jams for a Rex Foundation benefit at the Ardmore Music Hall near Philadelphia, and looking ahead, tickets are on sale for 2 Phish afterparty shows with JKB July 25 & 26.

Melvin Seals has been a powerful presence in the music industry for over 30 years with a long-established reputation as a performer, recording artist and producer. Melvin is most revered for his powerful, high-spirited, Hammond B-3 organ, and keyboards in the Jerry Garcia Band. Melvin spun his B-3 magic with the Jerry Garcia Band for 18 years and in doing so helped pioneer and define what has now become "Jam Band Music".

Well, last year was certainly one for the books! The hottest year in recorded history saw the departure from this world of so many beloved artists and performers, and an election cycle that seemed to be lifted from the pages of a Batman comic book… don’t get me started! ;)
