In the burgeoning jamband era of the 1990s, one band from Minnesota set out to take the world by storm.  This of course is the Big Wu, one of the more unsung heroes of the jam scene who have arguably displayed some of the best songwriting to come out of rock in the last 15 years.

The Grateful Web's Nancy Levine recently had an opportunity to speak to Billy Kreutzmann, drummer for the Grateful Dead about playing again as 'The Dead,' his love for ocean and sea mammal protection, and what profession Billy would like to attempt were he not playing music...

GW: How has the tour gone?

They weren't the biggest band back in the late 60's and 70's, yet Grand Funk Railroad did meet their prime with top singles such as "We're an American Band" and "I'm Your Captain/Closer to Home." Forty years later the band still comes through town on the occasional tour, but as Saturday's concert at Elitch Gardens showed, the Grand Funk's train appears to be coming to a halt.

September on the West Coast not only marks the time of year University of California, Santa Barbara rolls back into session, it also heralds the return of the WEST BEACH MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL.  Event producers Twiin Productions have announced that one of America’s only beach festivals will return for its third year Friday, September 18, Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, 2009.
