David Ferguson—one of Nashville’s great musical treasures and a living legend for his work as a Grammy award winning recording engineer, studio owner, video game soundtrack composer, and collaborator with the likes of Johnny Cash, John Prine, and Sturgill Simpson—has taken a long overdue step into the spotlight with his new album Nashville No More. Available everywhere on Friday, Sept.

Conscious reggae/hip-hop hybrid band The Late Ones are known for using their music as a tool to speak out against oppression and injustice by bringing a youthful and powerful presence to the reggae community, along with a unique spin by bringing in old school hip hop to the mix. Think of the Pharcyde, Souls of Mischief, and A Tribe Called Quest collaborating with The Mighty Diamonds or Culture, and you get a sense of what this band’s sound is like.

Taking cues from 60s and 70s musical influences such as John Prine, Leonard Cohen, Warren Zevon, Todd Snider, Willie Nelson, and even Prince, Toledo native Ben Stalets addresses the thorns in his side on new record, Everybody’s Laughing, both personal and worldly. The songs were not written with an overarching theme in mind, but when it came time for the album art concept, it was the “cult leader” vibe that gave him a sense of what the underlying vision is:

Dori Freeman has shared her latest single "Almost Home" (listen/share) as well as, a video for her previous single "I Am" (watch/share). Both songs are from the Galax, Virginia-based singer/songwriter's forthcoming studio album, 'Ten Thousand Roses,' due September 10 on her own boutique label, Blue Hens Music.

Multi-GRAMMY nominated arranger/composer Pete McGuinness brings his NYC big band back to the stage of Manhattan’s Birdland, Jazz Club featuring several new works, as well as his arrangements from the band’s three CDs recorded since 2006. The gig will feature Pete’s music, his jazz vocals, and all the top-tier New York jazz musicians of the band. Great food served too! Hope to see you there.
